Wine of the Word

Wine of the Word.
(A Christ poem from lines in the New Testament)
~
In the beginning was the Word,
but the darkness has not understood it.
The seed is the Word of God;
the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
~
The farmer sows the Word,
the seed sprouts and grows;
I am the true vine,
I have a baptism to undergo.
~
My Father is the gardener,
the field is the world;
the harvesters are angels;
the Word of life is heard.
~
The harvest has come,
hear the Word, retain it;
persevering produces a crop,
born of water and Spirit.
~
The Word became flesh among us;
every good tree bears good fruit;
I will not drink the fruit of vine again,
until I drink it in the kingdom anew.
